N.Z. Dairy Exports
Sir.—l seem to remember Mr Holyoake visiting Britain on a similar mission to Mr Skinner’s. On every count Mr Holyoake is the more able and he is, by training and experience, a farmer. But he failed, and so will the present Minister of Agriculture. The British Government will more than probably tell Mr Skinner that the British cannot be expected to pay for New Zealand’s largesse welfare State. The Labour Party for the first time, has to deal with a declining market and will come face to face with fundamental economic laws. If you. sir, were incapable of producing a newspaper that enough people would buy, you would go out of business and nobody would help you cut of your difficulties. Anyhow, surely we have a representative in London who could put our case without the Minister having to make the trip. Finally, does it have to be a politician to state our case?—Yours etc., FABIAN. Reefton, April 1, 1958.
