Allan Arrives At Riccarton
The Invercargill hurdler, Allan, was brought to Riccarton yesterday and will be under W. A. Welton’s care until after the Canterbury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting. He will run in the hurdle races on the second and third days. Struan, an Invercargill-trained candidate for the Champagne Stakes on Monday, was exercised and given experience In the starting gate at Riccarton yesterday. He was brought north by F. H. Skelton, but the Invercargill horseman has returned south to ride at the Riverton meeting. Struan won the Irwell Juvenile Handicap at the last New ■ Zealand Cup meeting at Riccarton. His best run in three starts since was a second to Antarctic Flight at Invercargill on November 23.
