TRAFFIC OFFICER RETIRES
Mr A. J. Tait, Head Of Training School Mr A. J. Tait, senior traffic officer in charge of the Transport Department’s national training school, Riccarton, has retired. Mr Tait, who was with the department for 15 years, used to be traffic officer to the Heathcote County Council. After joining the department, in 1943, he was posted to Rangiora, where he was also active in the parcels-for-Britain scheme.
After a period at the head office he returned to the South Island as officer in charge of plain clothes patrols before taking up his appointment as officer in charge of the newly-established traffic school at Riccarton.
A presentation was made to Mr Tait on behalf of the department by the Commissioner of Transport (Mr H. B. Smith).
