Local Production Of Import Lines

'The Press’ Special Service AUCKLAND, April 2.

The Kaipara Dairy Company has been granted a licence to make cottage cheese, Swiss cheese, Goudanz and Camembert, until now only obtainable in New Zealand through ’ imports, the company's general manager, Mr G. McWhirter, has announced. Mr McWhirter said Goudanz would be available from Auckland shops shortly. The other varieties would be on sale after August. All varieties would be identical with the imported cheeses except for holes, which would give distinctive appearances, he said.

Mr McWhirter said the company’s production should be able to cope with local demands It would not, however, manufacture for export. Prices would be almost half those oaid for the imported varieties. The cheese would be coated with plastic wax and packed in American-style wrappers.
