Twenty shearling Dorset Horn ewes, a shearling Dorset Horn ram and a one-shear Border Lei cester ram reached Christchurch yesterday from Australia for two Mid-Canterbury breeders The Dorset Horns, which are from Mr G. R. M. Smith, of the Marylebone Dorset Hom stud, of Cudal, New South Wales, are for Mr G. T. Askin, of Ealing, for whom they will form the foundation of ’ a Dorset Horn flock. Mr Askin has the Broadfielos Border Leicester stud. The Border Leicester ram is for the Aberfoyle stud of McDowell Brothers, of Wakanui. It is Brigendoone Curly No. 4 from the Brigendoone stud of Mr Frank Cameron, of Trangie, New South Wales.

The ewes and rams reached New Zealand on the Wanganella and arrived in Lyttelton on the inter-island ferry yesterday morning. Later their new owners tooK delivery of them at the Addington Show Grounds.

Arrangements for the importation of the Dorset Horas and the Border Leicester were made by Pyne. Gould. Guinness Ltd., and the Australian Mercantile Lana and Finance Company of Sydney Corriedales for Kenya

Corriedales from Mr J. H. Grigg, of Longbeach. are due to leave New Zealand this week on the Wanganella on their way io Kenya. The sheep, two ranis and five ewes, worth about 500 guineas, will go to Mr James Ryan, of Molo. Kenya, who has previously had Longbeach sheep

In the present consignment there is a ram sired by a Longbeach ram which Mr Grigg pur chased from Mr G. Hutton, of Darfield. at the recent stud ram fair. In addition, Mr Grigg will supply a shearling ram and five shearling ewes. The sheep will go to Australia on the Wanga- ■ nella and from there they will i travel by the Straat Cook tn [Mombasa. Shipping arrangements have been made by Dalgety and I Company.
