Strike Threat In Ruhr
(Rec. 8 p.m.) HAMBURG, April 2. Union leaders of 180.000 iron and steel workers in the industrial Ruhr area will meet employers today in an effort to stave off a strike called for next Wednesday to support a 10 per cent, wage claim. The Chemical Workers Union in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein has also cancelled the wages agreement of its 32.000 workers as from April 30. It is not yet known what demands the union will put forward In the Rhineland-Palatinate the same union recently gave notice that it would end the wages agreement of its 62.000 members, and demand a 12 per cent, rise.
