STRIKE FOR 24 HOURS

Work Resumes In Paris

(Rec. 9.10 p.m.) PARIS, April 2 Airport ground staffs were the first to return to work today of the estimated 1,000.000 workers, whose 24-hour strike paralysed France's transport and other public services yesterday. The airport men, whose strike ran from midnight.to midnight, had grounded virtually all civil aircraft in France yesterday by stopping control and security services.

Paris Airport officials said soon after midnight that some aircraft had already taken off from Orly and Le Bourget airports. Trains began running at 4 a.m. and officials at the Paris termini said everything was back to normal.

Union leaders claimed that yesterday's strike was 90 to 100 per cent, effective in the industries affected—chiefly transport and gas.

They termed it a warning and said discontent would grow in the State-run industries unless wages were quickly brought into line with the rising cost of living and with those in private employment.
