CANADIAN-U.S. TRADE
TORONTO, April 1 The overwhelming election victory of the Canadian Prime Minister, Mr John Diefenbaker, was seen today as solid public endorsement of his Progressive Conservative Party’s programme of national development. It also was expected to accelerate his drive to divert a substantial share of United StatesCanadian trade to Britain and to reduce as much as possible Canada's economic dependence on the United States.
Some political observers said the Conservative victory, ensuring the four to five years in office, would undoubtedly have an important effect on the whole massive question of relations, political and economic, between Caliada and the United States.
