DRUNKENNESS On a charge of being found drunk in Worcester street on March 31, his second offence within six months, 1 nomas Francis Commons, aged 44, a fitter and turner, was convicted and fined £2 in default three days' imprisonment FINED FOR ASSAULT Anthony Barnett, aged 22, a freezing worker, who pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting John James Beattie on March 31 was fined £lO. Sergeant H. McLean said accused and another man had been on a drinking bout, and the assault had been committed outside a milk bar in Colombo street No injury was done to the complainant and there were no previous convictions. TRAFFIC BREACHES Offenders prosecuted by the Transport Department were fined as follows: Exceeding 30 miles an hour: Thomas Charles Ewing, £2; Robert William Kinnaird, £3; George Patrick Whiting, £4. Pillion passenger with no safety helmet: Ivan Tuuta, £3. Illegal parking: John Gunn, £l. On charges brought by the Christchurch City Council’s Traffic Department offenders were fined as follows: Exceeding 30 miles on hour:— Frank Joseph Anderson, £5. (carrying pillion passenger when exceeding 40 miles an hour, £5), Paul Francis Clark £2 (wrong class of licence £2), Norman Joseph Laddicoat £3, Barry Raymond Smart £5 (carrying pillion passenger when exceeding 40 miles an hour £3, no safety helmet £2, no safety helmet on passenger £2), Eric Raymond Wood £2, Ronald Gordon Vivian £5. Parked in time expired metred space: Hedley Rees-Thomas £2. Charles Yule Urquhart £3. No warrant of fitness:—Valdermara Balodis £4, Francis Basher £1 (no safety chain £2), Ronald Roy Biggs £1 (no safety chain £2), John Allan Lee £2 (no safety chain £2), Paul James Handisides £1 (inadequate footrests for passenger £1), Trevor John McCaughan £4, Noel Kennedy Smith £2.
