PAKISTAN TOUR POSSIBLE
Invitation To Be Given “It has been suggested that a New Zealand hockey team should tour Pakistan soon—possibly next year—and if the manager of the Pakistan team (Mr Riazuddin Ahmed) is unable to come to New Zealand I will make an official invitation to the New Zealand Hockey Association." said the associate manager of the Pakistan hockey team (Mr S. M. Hussain) at Christchurch Airport after nis arrival from Pakistan yesterday afternoon.
Before Mr Hussain's arrival yesterday the team was being managed by the captain (Abdul Hamid). The team’s manager may still be able to come to New Zealand but it was not definite, said Mr Hussain. It would not be advisable for a New Zealand hockey team competing at the Rome Olympic Games, to play in Pakistan on its way to Rome, he said. The weather was too hot around June.
and December or January would be more suitable. "You could not get the best out of your boys in the terrific heat during that month,” he said. “It would be an advantage to have a special tour before the Olympic Games.”
