WEST INDIES PARLIAMENT
Slight Majority For Socialists (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) KINGSTON (Jamaica), March 30. The balance between Socialists and anti-Socialists in the West Indies’ first Federal Parliament tilted today in favour of the Socialists. A final count in a Jamaican constituency revealed that the Socialist candidate had won by 189 votes. The anti-Socialist candidate was named winner after the preliminary count. The strength of parties in the Federal House is now: Federal labour Party (Socialists) 23. Democratic Labour Party (antiSocialists) 21, Barbados National Party one. Sir Alexander Bustamente, leader of the Democratic Labour Party, said after today’s loss that he would ask for a recount.
