The foursomes were drtcided on the Saturday afternoon, when the honours went to Otago, butj the Canterbury men were a diffefrent proposition in the singles pltoyed this morning. ' The Otago first stringl, A. R. Timms, went down to Caiaterbury s R. E. Clements by the narrow margin of one hole. The match could have gone either way. Clements went out in i 38 and coming home Timms was cane down with three holes to play. The tension was on and these thrnee holes were halved. Clements cohered the course in 75—three above par. K. D. Foxton. probably Canterbury’s most consistent golfer, finished a hole to the good ? against Otago’s R. D. Kearns. Thw players were all square at the Uirn and Foxton clinched the match when he won the sixteenth, the remaining two holes being halved. Results, Otago names first,; were:— Singles.—A. R. Timms lost tto R. E. Clements, one down; R. D.' Kearns lost to K. D. Foxton, one* down; T W. Wight beat G. J. Scott, lone up: J. H. Rogers lost to R. J._lUmsay one down; R. T. Murray bedt R. K. Atkinson. 7-5; B. A. Whitburn beat B. L. Clegg. 5-4; T. C. Tyrrell lost to A. W. Robinson, one dapwn; A Gibbs v. W. J. McGavock, all C. R. Colquhoun beat H. Jfcihnson. 3-1; D. G. Sutherland beat'F. W. Roberts, one up;- J. A. Howafith lost to G. P. Vesty. 5-7; W. G. Smith v. D. Murdoch, all square. Foursomes.—Timms and v.
