BOMBING OF BANDING
Indonesian Rebel Claim (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright!)
(Rec. 9 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 23. The United Press reported from Singapore today that the rebel Padang Radio had claimed that two revolutionary Government planes had bombed the Indonesian Central Government “summer capital” of Bandung. It was the first reported attack on the home island of Java.
The rebel radio said that the two bombers, flying from Menado, in the pro-rebel North Celebes, attacked and damaged the airfield at Bandung. It did not gay when.
The reported attack was the first indication the rebels had planes. They announced last week they had an operating navy.
