N.Z. CRIPPLED CHILDREN

Officers Travel 2000 Miles

,Ten children had been registered with the Canterbury and West Cast branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society in the previous four weeks, it was reported at a recent committee meeting of the society. It was also reported that it had been possible to delete from the register the names of seven children, two of whom had been cured and ,the other five require no further help.

The field officers travelled more than 2000 miles, transporting children to and from clinics and visiting them in their homes. The swimming class had an excellent average attendance, consisting mainly of the younger children for whom swimming would be the only possible sport, said the report. Several gifts had been received for the rooms. Dolls’ clothes, toys, books, and a very fine model farm made for the society by the father of one of the small boys registered with the society had been included. It was announced that the next Dominion conference of the secretaries and field officers of the society would be held in Christchurch on October 1 and 2 this year. The preliminary arrangements were under way. The rag drive for - the society was still going well.
