Rugby N.Z. TEAM IN JAPAN

The New Zealand Rugby team today, beat Keio University, Japan's champion university side, by 33 points to three. The New Zealanders led 17 to three at half time.
The match, played before a crowd of more than 15,000 persons in dull weather, was played at a fairly fast pace throughout, although the New Zealanders appeared almost lethargic compared with some of their recent displays. The New Zealanders scored seven tries, three of which were converted, and two goals from penalties. The winger, J. R. Watt, scored 15 of the team’s points Tries were scored by Morris (three). Lineen (two). Watt and Thompson, one each. Watt kicked three conversions and two goals from penalties. Keio University’s points were scored from a penalty. Keio University team had a fast backline which was, however, not as strong on defence as some of the other Japanese teams have been.
The New Zealand team was: P. T. Walsh, J. R. Watt, H. R. Lineen. R. R. Morris, E. J. Thompson, R. H. Brown, K. C. Briscoe, A. J. Soper, E. A. R. Pickering, C. E. Meads. J. Johnston, A. Hayes, W. J. Whineray, J. Creighton, A G. E. Rowlands.
