TECHNICAL COLLEGE, Evening Classes Prize List
Nearly 200 persons were present at the prize-giving ceremony of the 1957 part-time day and evening classes at the Christchurch Technical College. Mr H. C. McQueen. New Zealand Commissioner of Apprenticeships, was the guest speaker. Among other official guests was the Mayoress (Mrs R. M. Macfarlane). The two trophies presented were:— A trophy for the best apprentice in the furniture trade over three years of training, Sydney Payne: and a cup for the most outstanding work in the plumbing section over the whole period of college attendance, Brian Watts. Twyneham), was remanded on bail of £5O and a surety of £5O on a charge of converting a motor-cycle, valued at £6O, on March 19.
