SUPPORT FOR MR WALSH
District Council’s Resolution
The Canterbury district council of the New Zealand Federation of Labour at a meeting last evening placed on record its support of the statement of the president of the New Zealand Federation of Labour (Mr F. P. Walsh h which asked the workers of Britain to give favourable consideration to the problems of the producers in New Zealand. The resolution said the council was of the opinion that the voluntary sacrifices made by the people of New Zealand during the war years, and in the period after the war, should not be lightly forgotten, and that unrestricted freedom of trade will not be, in the long term, beneficial to the workers of New Zealand or Britain, or to members of the British Commonwealth.
