Rebels Take North Sumatran Town

(Rec. 10 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 19. Rebel broadcasts had claimed the capture of the town of Langkat, north of Medan, said the “New York Times” today. The broadcast said that two battalions, each of about 800 men, had seized the town after a two-day battle.
The British United Press said the rebel battalions were composed of Achinese soldiers.
The radio was reported to have said that the Achinese people had given their support to the rebels on Sumatra.
