DRIVER KILLED Collision With Train

(New Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, March 19. A man was killed in a levelcrossing accident at Spring Creek, four miles north of Blenheim about 10.15 a.m. today. He was: John Davies Reid, aged 34. married. with three children, of Blenheim. Mr Reid, a motor salesman, was struck by a locomotive travelling from Blenheim to Picton. He was thrown from the car for about 30 yards, and was killed instantly. His car was impaled on the engine, which travelled about 300 yards before it was stopped. A tractor had to be used to wrench the car from the engine. Mr Reid was a returned serviceman, and served as a gunner on Catahnas in the Pacific.
