Sir Ralph Cochrane’s Anniversary Visit Air Chief Marshal Sir Ralph Cochrane, war-time Royal Air Force group leader of the Pathfinder and Dambuster squadrons will pay a short visit to Christchurch on Wednesday. March 26 He will be at the Royal New Zealand Air Force station. Wigram. and in the evening will address the Air League in Begg's concert chamber.

Sir Ralph Cochrane, who retired from the air force recently, is now head of the Rolls Royce nuclear energy scheme in Britain. He is one of a number of distinguished aviation personalities who will visit New Zealand for R.N.Z.A.F. twenty-first anniversary celebrations.

New Zealand asked Britain’s Air Minister in the midthirties to send an officer to New Zealand to help plan the Dominion’s air defence force. They sent Wing Commander Cochrane. In December, 1936, he presented a report which recommended complete reorganisation of Air Force policy and administration. It is on that plan that today’s R.N.Z.A.F has been built It is because of his vital role in developing the R.N.Z.A.F. that Sir Ralph Cochrane will be an honored guest at its 21st birthday this month
