CONSTITUTION OF SINGAPORE
Mission To Go To London
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) SINGAPORE, March 18.
Sources close to the Chief Minister (Mr Lim Yew Hock) said tonight that an all-party delegation would leave Singapore for London soon to complete arrangements for the introduction of the colony’s new selfgoverning constitution. The sources said the delegation would discuss the final draft of the constitution with Colonial Office officials and discuss further with the British Government the internal security clause of the agreement signed by Britain and Singapore last year. Government sources said the delegation would bring up especially the section in this clause which bars known subversives from candidature in the general elections in September.
The sources said Britain’s insistence on this point rankled with Singapore political parties.
