ADELAIDE, March 19 Two men and a girl making a "000-mile motor-scooter journey •cross Australia were reported •afe this morning at Cocklebiddy. • small township between Norseman and the South Australian border.

Reports this morning said the fri°—a New Zealander, Graeme Young, aged about 28; Malcolm Sharp, aged 29, and Miss Pat Wadmore, aged 18. both of Adelaide—were stranded with mechanical trouble, and were waiting Ou spare parts from Norseman.

Fire Destroys Refugee Camp.— A fine fanned by a gale near westerbork in Holland yesterday destroyed the homes of 500 refugees from Indonesia living in a camp. Westerbork (Holland), March 19.

There were indications that earlier rebel operations at Medan had been carried out as a diversion with the hope of laying Pakanbaru, 300 miles to the south, open to a counter-attack by revolutionary forces, the “New York Times” said.

In a dispatch from Singapore, the newspaper said there had been no confirmation from either Jakarta or from Indonesian rebel sources in Singapore of a successful rebel counter - attack against Pakanbaru.

A rebel radio broadcast from Padang, Central Sumatra, said the rebels had attacked Pakanbaru and that the Government forces had either fled or surrendered, allowing the rebels to seize arms and ammunition. Captain Agus Soeroto, a Central Government spokesman, had claimed that the Government’s forces were gaining ground in Central Sumatra, said the agency.

The British United Press said the Caltex Oil Company had announced in Singapore that it was sending 12 members of its staff to Pakanbaru, the Central Sumatran oil centre, today. It was stated earlier that the company had resumed work after the re-occupation of the area by Government troops.
