CHEMISTS MEET
Address By Former f Director The development of pharmacy, since it became a licensed profesr sion 22 years ago, was traced by Mr E. R. Myers, a former Directed of Pharmacy, when he formally opened the annual conference of the Chemists’ Service Guild of New Zealand, at the Sign of th«> Takahe on Saturday evening. He “brought some skeltons out of their cupboards”—in the words Of the Dominion president of the •- guild (Mr Nathan Ross) —and recalled some of the chemists with whom he had worked as the Chairman of the former licensing authority, the Pharmacy Board, during a light-hearted address. The standing of the family chemist, in particular, was high In communities throughout New Zealand, said the Mayor (Mr R M. Macfarlane, M.P.), who welcomed the 120 delegates. IThe chairman of the reception was Mr C. S Ell, chairman of the Canterbury division of the guild. Yesterday members attended matins at the Christchurch Cathedral where the speaker was 1 the Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. Martin Sullivan), and >»4D- the afternoon drove to Diamond I Harbour.
