PRESIDENT OF METHODISTS
Arrival In City Today
The president of the Methodist Church of New Zealand (the Rev. Dr. D. O. Williams) will arrive in Christchurch by air today from Auckland on nis first official visit to the city.
This evening he will attend a meeting of the .Methodist Conference spiritual healing committee, and tomorrow morning will conduct the service at the St. Albans Methodist Church, a parish of which he was formerly minister. Dr. Williams will be the guest preacher at the Rangiora Methodist Church in the evening, after which he will address a meeting of the church’s men’s fellowship.
Next week his programme will include a visit to Leeston, lectures to the students at the Methodist Deaconess House, and from Tuesday to Friday public meetings in the Durham Street Methodist Church. He will be the guest speaker at a methodist women’s rally in the Durham •treet hall on Tuesday.
Dr. Williams has carried out special research on the psychological and clinical approach to personal counselling, and in 1954, when he was selected as a Fulbright scholar, continued these studies at the University of Chicago. While he is in Christchurch he will be available for personal counselling, and many appointments have already been made.
Next Saturday he will officially open and dedicate the new Methodist church at Greendale, and the following day will conduct the first services there. Dr. Williams will leave Christchurch on March 24.
