Private Planes Requisitioned
(Rec. 8 p.m.) JAKARTA, March 8. The Indonesian Air Force early today announced decrees to requisition privately-owned aircraft and to conscript civilian Indonesians with the necessary skill as aircrews.
The newspaper "Bintang Timur” claimed that Palembang, the capital of uncommitted South Sumatra, had become tense as a result of efforts by the Central Sumatran rebels to attract senior Army officers to their cause.
President Soekarno next week begins a tour of military bases in loyal outer regions of Indonesia, it was announced today. President Soekarno will visit the South Celebes, Bali, and East Java, whose leaders have pledged loyalty to the Central Government in Jakarta.
