MELBOURNE. March 9. Australia b’eat the British rifle shooting team in the Empire match at Williamstown range yesterday by 36 points to win the trophy for the seventh time. The match was over four ranges—3oo, 600, 900, and 1000 yards. - Details were:—3oo yards: Australia 376 points out of a possible 400, Britain 373. 600 yards: Australia 367, Britain 360. 900 yards: Australia 364, Britain 344. 1000 yards: Australia 336, Britain 330. Totals: Australia 1443, Britain 1407. For the British team. Mr H. N. Darell-Brown scored 46, 46, 46, 44 182; Mr D. F. Cantlay,. 48, 46, 41, 41— 176; Lieutenant R. N. Britton, 47, 42. 35, 38—162; Captain H. N. Cooper. 47. 49. 46. 44—186; Major A. T. V. Debenham, 43, 43, 46, 43—175; Lieutenant H. G. Doyne-Ditmus, 43, 43, 43. 35—164; Major R. A. Britain has won the Empire trophy six times and Canada once. Queen’s Prize The Melbourne entrant, Percy Pavey, won the Queen's Prize—his
fourteenth Queen’s or King’s title—with 344 at Williamstown on Friday. Lord Swansea finished fourth in
the Queen’s Prize aggregate with 340, but he won the grand championship for the meeting with 664 for three aggregate shoots—David Syme, the Queen’s, and the Service match. Two Melbourne shooters. P. Higgins and J. Dean, shared second place with 341 each.
