Judge Comments On Liberace
SYDNEY, March 7. Liberace’s statement to a Sydney audience on Wednesday had displayed the reactions of a “petulant child rather than of a responsible adult,” Mr Justice McLelland said in the Equity Court today. The Judge said it was surprising to learn that the Court’s action in restraining Liberace from playing excerpts from the musical comedy, “My Fair Lady,’’ had been described by Liberace an American citizen,.as “communistic.” The Australian Copyright Law and rights created by it were in all material respects similar to those in the United States.
Mr Justice McLelland by consent made a permanent order restraining Liberace from playing excerpts from “My Fair Lady ’ in New South Wales. Costs and damages were also settled by consent on terms which were not disclosed. General Election For Jugoslavs BELGRADE, March 7. Jugoslav voters will have a choice of candidates in five out of 301 constituencies in the general elections on March 23, the Federal Electoral Commission announced. Apart from the five contested seats, candidates for all the others are unopposed and certain of election to the Federal Council of the People’s Assembly, unless they poll less than half the potential vote. The extra candidates are not “opposition” candidates in the Western sense. They have the tacit support of the Socialist alliance, the Com-munist-run “Popular Front, ’ the only political organisation taking part in the election.
