Oysters By Air From South
More than three tons of oysters reached Christchurch by air this week. They were carried by a National Airways Corporation freighter from Invercargill. This is the latest extension of the corporation’s freighter operations, and it is intended to make one return flight south each Wednesday as soon as all three Douglas freighters are in service. One aircraft is at present undergoing a major overhaul. Stud stock breeders in Southland are likely to make considerable use of the new service, which will make a stop at Dunedin each way. The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce has expressed its gratification at the extension of the service, which arose out of representations by its air vigilance committee.
