Number Plates On Cars
Sir, —“Facts Right” states what is the usual procedure with British car number plates, i.'e. the plate remains with the car for its lifetime. However, in certain circumstances Mr W. H. Brown is correct, as, if the car owner has a number which he wishes to retain- as a mascot, or for sentimental reasons, he can transfer his number from his old to his new car if he asks permission. That is why out-of-date numbers, like, perhaps, MG7777, are sometimes seen on brand new sports cars.—Yours, etc., FACTS RIGHT IL March 6, 1958.
