The Minister of Defence (Mr Connolly) arrived in Christchurch by air yesterday to inspect the R.N.Z.A.F. station, Wigram, and discuss its future and that of the R.N.Z.A.F. depot, Weedons. He was accompanied by the Air Secretary (Mr B. Rae), the Air Member for Supply (Air Commodore C. Hunter), and the R.N.Z.A.F director of works (Wing Commander A. E. Anderson). After lunch he left by air for the R.N.Z.A.F. station, Woodbourne. Rear-Admiral C. R. L. Parry, secretary of the Trans-Antarctic Expedition, London, is expected to arrive at Auckland by air on March 11 on a brief visit to New Zealand. He will visit Wellington soon after his arrival and have discussions with the Ross Sea. Committee.—(P.A.) Mr I. P. Anderson has been appointed assistant science master at the Christchurch West High School. Mr Anderson will begin his duties on April 1.
