LEAKS IN HEADRACE AT ARAPUNI
Repairs Under Difficult Conditions (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 6. The Minister in charge of the State Hydro-electric Department (Mr Watt) said today that the small leaks which had developed in the lining of the Arapuni headrace during the recent heavy flood in the Waikato river had been reduced to about one-fifth of their original flow. “Repair work is continuing under difficult conditions,” he said, “and it is hoped to have the remaining leakage sealed off within the next week. .The power station has remained in operation throughout.”
