CRICKETER’S TRIP
J. W. Guy Going To Britain When the Doric sails from Lyttelton for London on Tuesday, a member of the crew will be the 23-year-bld Canterbury cricketer, J. W. Guy. He is going to Britain to gain experience in league or club cricket during the coming season.
One of those unfortunate not to be selected for the New Zealand team to tour England, Guy
will now have an opportunity of seeing some of the matches.
Guy came to Canterbury at the beginning of this cricket season. A left-hand batsman, he captained the Sydenham senior team, and represented Canterbury in the five Plunket Shield matches. After leaving Nelson College he represented Central- Districts. Guy toured India with the New Zealand team in 1955-56, and in the first test against India scored a century. He plans to return to New Zealand in time for the next cricket season.
