Yachting N.Z. TEAM FOR COWES
Six Crews To Contest Trials (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 6. Six 14-footer yachts will contest the national trials at Auckland at Easter for the selection of New Zealand’s three-boat team to compete in the international championships for the Prince of Wales Cup at Cowes, England, in July. Entries from three Auckland and two Rotorua boats have been received, and the Olympic gold medallist, P. Mander, has announced that either he or another Canterbury skipper will lead another crew. Another 10 or 12 yachts will be invited to compete to give the trial crews experience of racing in big fleets, but these boats will not be eligible for selection.
