AN AMERICAN SOLAR HOUSE.—This two-storey, three-bedroom house, built in Boston by engineers and architects from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is said to be the first designed to meet modern living requirements in a cold climate. The area of glass to the right is part of the solar collector, of 640 square feet, which traps the heat from the sun. The screened porch at the left provides outdoor space for the second-storey living room.
