WATER POLO
First Rounds In B Grade Six matches in the B grade section were played yesterday at the national water polo championships in Christchurch. At the end of the day, only two teams—Auckland B and Wanganui—remain unbeaten. Auckland B showed excellent form to beat a strong Canterbury Bteam by 7 goals to 2, and won its second game against South Canterbury by 18 goals to 2. Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay, which showed excellent form in its morning game to beat South Canterbury 16-5, was beaten in an exciting game last evening by Wellington B. B grade games will continue today, and at the Centennial Pool this evening the first of the A grade matches will be held. Two of the best games should be seen when Auckland meets Wellington and Canterbury meets Waikato. Results of yesterday’s B grade games were:— Wanganui 6, Wellington B 4; Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay 16. South Canterbury 5; Auckland B 7, Canterbury B 2; Wanganui 9, Canterbury B 3; Auckland B 18, South Canterbury 2: Wellington B 6. Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay 5.
