Road and rail communications on the West Coast should be back to normal today. The 2.20 a.m. Christchurch-Greymouth rail-car was expected to be able to make the complete trip this morning after gangs of workmen had worked all day Saturday and yesterday repairing slips on the line between Aratika and Kaimata. Train services on Saturday to the West Coast from Canterbury were seriously affected. Passengers on the 10 a.m. express from Christchurch were taken by bus from Moana to Greymouth. Railcar services on Saturday night were cancelled.
