GLADIOLUS SOCIETY
Field Day Held At Kaiapoi More than 120 persons attended a field day of the Canterbury Gladiolus Society held at the home of the president (Mrs H. Barker) at Kaiapoi yesterday. The standard of flowers shown bv nearly 50 exhibitors was very high, and the weather was fine enough for the visitors to look over the estate during the afternoon. Besides members of the society there were many visitors from the Canterbury Horticultural Society and Canterbury garden clubs. Thei award for the premier formal bloom was won by S. Harris, and P Tasker won the award for the I premier informal bloom. The standard of the decorative work shown was very high, and this section was won by Miss M Soames.
