Tamarisk Beats Beau Revere At Westport

WESTPORT, February 16. Tamariak was well placed throughout the Morley Handicap, the main event on the firrt day of the Westport Jockey Club > summer meeting yesterday, but was hard pressed over the concluding stages to hold off a strong challenge from Beau Revere. _ Princess Neptune and Appreciate suffered most in a bad start, end the former did not get within challenging distance of the leaders. Appreciate reached the lead for a snort time at the mile, but faded to fourth at the finish. Grey Light made most of the running from Tamarisk. Keep Time, Whiohau, and Beau Revere. Tamarisk and Beau Revere fought out an exciting finish, with Whiohau third. Keep Time drifted badly and finished last. . . ... Bonny Pippin took charge with two furlongs to go in the second leg, the Murchison Hack Handicap, and won easily. Hurry Along, Bon Salut. and Bonny Pippin made tne early running. Toddler, the eachway favourite, and Arrow Royal were at the rear. Looking Forww-d and Zami Lyn were in the middle of the field. Bonny Pippin drew out in the straight, and Looking Forward and Zami Lyn finished best of the others for second and third. Bon Salut was a fair fourth. The double dividend for Tamarisk and Bonny Pippin was £27 14s for The meeting opened in fine weather, and the track was in good order. There was a fair attendance.
