MELBOURNE, February 16. The Sydney sprinter, Dubbo. equalled the Australian record for five furlongs and a half when he scored an all-the-way win in the £4OOO Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield yesterday.
A heavily-backed favourite at 7/4, Dubbo covered the distance in Imin 3.9 sec. to win by a length from New Spec (12/1). with Copper Year (12/1) a head away third.
