More Australian Navy Cuts
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright > CANBERRA, January 21. More Royal Australian Navy vessels may go into mothballs in cuts expected to be announced in a few days by the Defence Minister (Sir Philip Mcßride), the Melbourne “Sun” reported today. The main reason for the step is believed to be the shortage of men to man active warships. The cuts would be in line with the Government’s policy of concentrating defence spending on the Royal Australian Air Force, the newspaper said.
