Feathers For Hats

The hats worn by Queen Elizabeth on her visit to the United States and Canada in 1957 included several trimmed with or made entirely of feathers. The result was that they were rapidly copied by United States designers and are influencing millinery fashions for 1958. On some of the newest models seen in the London collections recently, feathers are massed so thickly on the hat that the hair is not seen at all; on others they are used merely to soften the outline.

Even down is not rejected. One model trimmed with pearls is so fluffy in appearance that it gives the wearer something of the look of a newly hatched chick.
