Cape Elections On April 16
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) CAPE TOWN, January 20.
South Africa will go to the polls in a general election on April 16, it was announced today.
A Government spokesman last week said that the Prime Minister (Mr Johannes Strydom), who has been ill, had been urged to stay away from the present short session of Parliament to conserve his strength for an election campaign.
A medical bulletin yesterday said that Mr Strydom was suffer-, ing from a minor heart complaint, but would be able to resume his normal* activities after a rest.
