NEW PORTRAIT OF PRINCESS MARGARET.—For this portrait, which is now in Princess Margaret’s possession, Her Royal Highness gave Pietro Annigoni 15 sittings at Clarence House and a further six sittings at the artist’s London studio. The Princess is shown in a simple white dress with a full skirt, and her hands are lightly holding a dark stole of taffeta which has slipped from one shoulder. She wears no jewellery. The setting is a garden of soft green against a blue sky. A touch of brighter colour is supplied by a rose in the right foreground and a rosy cloud behind Princess Margaret's head.
