Modern Foundry
The basis of the engineering and metal trades industry is the modern foundry. Today, the foundpr is a comparatively clean and airy place, different from the. foundry of earlier days. In it are produced the castings and the mouldings, taking shape from molten metal skilfully handled and scientifically controlled. . The foundry offers great scope and the basic training for other branches of the industry. Hand in hand with moulding goes boilermaking and boiler-making-welding which also offer many openings and are basically important to many branches of industry. Other careers are available in engine and farriersmithing, brassflnishing, and copper smithing.
