CORRESPONDENTS FOR ANTARCTIC
Places On Neptune Aircraft
Crewmen have been offloaded from an American NaVy Neptune aircraft to make way for two correspondents who will fly to the Antarctic in it today. , The Neptune is timed to leave Christchurch at 10 a.m. for McMurdo Sound. The correspondents are Messrs B. Jones, a reporter of the London “Daily Express,” and S. Heydinger, a photographer of "The Times,” London. The Neptune will also take spare parts for other aircraft at McMurdo and a small quantity of mail.
The pilot is Lieutenant R. A. Koch.
The Neptune will not return immediately to New Zealand. Plans are to keep it in the Antarctic for operations during the rest of the summer.
