Luckydale rewarded his new trainer. Jack Denham, by winning the Welter Handicap at Canterbury Parte on Saturday. Luckdale (Lucky Bag—Scottish Dale) was brought from New Zealand by Doug Webster and in due.course won a novice handicap and a three-year-old handicap. Then Luckydale lost form and was transferred to C. Rolls* stables, but foiled to show much improvement. His owners, R. L. Buckenham and Mrs G. Hazeldine, then gave Luckydale to Denham to train, and on Saturday the gelding was well backed at long prices to start at 7 to 2 and win with a strong run from the moderatly-backed First Boy, with the firm favourite, Silver Phantom, third. Now that he is in form, Luckydale may win more races before the handicapper raises him to a weight that is beyond him.
