ROYAL VISIT ITINERARY
Appearances In Christchurch
Routes the Queen Mother will take during her visit to Christchurch next month and details of her itinerary have been announced.
On Wednesday, February 12, she will arrive at Harewood Airport at 5.15 p.m. and will travel by way of Burnside road, Fendalton road, Harper avenue, Park terrace and Worcester street, arriving at the Clarendon Hotel at 5.40 p.m. In the evening, she will leave for the Civic Theatre at 8.50 p.m. and will drive along oxford terrace, Colombo street, the south side of ■ Cathedral square, Worcester street and Manchester street and will arrive there at 9 p.m. A Civic Welcome will be tendered to her by the Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.) and she will later return to her hotel by way of Manchester street, Worcester street, the south side of Cathedral square, and Worcester street. On Thursday, February 13, she will be free from official engagements.
Her Majesty’s farewell message will be broadcast at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 14, and she will leave the hotel for Harewood Airport at 11.35 a.m.
The final drive will be the longest of all and will be by way of Oxford terrace, Cashel street. High street. Cathedral square. Colombo street, Armagh street. Park terrace. Harper Fendalton road, and Burnside road. She will arrive at the airport at 12.05 p.m.
A Royal Salute and inspection of the guard of honour will precede the official farewells and the Queen Mother will leave by air for Canberra at 12.15 p.m.
