Case Returned To Butcher
A Riccarton butcher, Mr M. A Johnson, who lost his week’s takings on Friday evening, had them returned yesterday morning. Mr Johnson had lost nearly £250. mainly in cash, in a briefcase which he had put down on the street while opening the car doors and forgot. When he returned soon after the briefcase had disappeared.
“I was in the shop this morning before 8, and a man came in and said to me. ‘What sort ol a week-end did you have?’ ’ said Mr Johnson yesterday “I said. ‘Not very bright.’ at which he put the briefcase on the counter and said. ‘This should make it brighter.’ ” The man, who refused to give his name, had cycled in to Railway, terrace on Friday just after Mr had left in his car and found the case lying on the road.
