GOVERNOR’S WIFE
Lady Black To Go To Hong Kong
IBy SUSAN VAUGHAN I LONDON.
Lady Black will take one of her two daughters to Hong Kong this, month, when her husband. Sir Robert Black, takes up his appointment as the new Governor there.
Barbara, aged 18, will travel with her parents, but Kathryn, aged 16, will stay at her school in England. She might join the family for the summer holidays next year.
Barbara was learning shorthandtyping in Singapore when word came recently of her father’s transfer. But Lady Black does not know if the elder girl will continue her lessons in Hong Kong —"there are no definite plans,’’ she said.
Lady Black is looking forward to living in the colony, but she has warm memories of her life in Singapore—"even if it was a bit hair-raising at first.’’’ Her husband has been Governor of Singapore since 1955.
