MARTON CUP Narrow Win For Brookside

(New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI. January 1. The Marton Jockey Club's New Year meeting was held today in fine but overcast weather. The track was firm and fast.

The winning double, Brookside and Lully, paid £223 17s for £l. The totalisator on-course handled £57,918, compared with £59.184 on the opening day of last year’s twoday meeting, a decrease of £1266. The trainer. K. Carter, was fined for the late scratching of Rage for the Dash Hack Handicap. Results:—
